Thank you for showing an interest in working for the Council – even if that had not been in your mind when you followed the link to the site!
This is a Council that thinks it is a business and wants managers who can support that vision. The organisation has moved from a fair performer to one of the fastest improving organisations around, by any sectoral standards. It is not simply sitting on its hands wondering where the recession will take it. It is setting its own agenda and that is one that will make it a top performer by any standards.
We have a billion pound investment programme, we already have a turnover that dwarfs many businesses and complexity that will challenge the most able. We have a vision for growing our business and for improving customer satisfaction, for cutting costs and raising our effectiveness.
We need to bring in the experience and capability to take this forward, helping us to be not just “businesslike” but to actually have excellent business practice embedded in all we do. We need experienced professionals who will show they can do it in this challenging environment, who will think outside not just our box but also their own, who will challenge us as we will challenge them.
